She is the face of a new generation of people suffering with a genetic disease called Cystic Fibrosis. She is also our daughter. CF has life-threatening effects primarily on patient’s lungs and pancreas, and while this disease has always been around, it is only recently that researchers are finding new and inspiring ways to fight and, soon, beat CF.

We that know this disease personally continually gain hope that the day will come when those we love will be granted lives no longer adversely affected by CF. We CAN and WILL beat it. Every day we hear reports that researchers have found or are in the process of trying something new, novel, and hopeful. These steps toward a cure, however, come at a price. CF is grossly under funded by outside sources.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the main source of funding and awareness for this disease that would otherwise likely go unnoticed by those not affected by it. The foundation sponsors the annual GREAT STRIDES WALK in an effort to raise money for treatments and cures.

This year’s GREAT STRIDES WALK is being held on Sunday, May 21st, 2006, at Leila Arboretum in Battle Creek, MI. Last year we were able to surpass our fundraising goal by almost $10,000!! It was only possible through people like you. Your donations are the KEY to success against this disease. Almost 90% of every dollar donated goes directly into needed research and programs. With another year of success we, along with others nationwide, will be taking another huge step towards our final goal…Life for those affected by Cystic Fibrosis.

How can you get involved?
• Walk (to join our team, please log onto www.cff.org and register for the walk. The CFF will mail you a walker’s packet and you can join the “fight”).
• Sponsor a walker though your generous donation. Remember, nearly 90% goes directly into the “battlefield.” Please make checks payable to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
